About TESS » E-Locate Information

E-locates are a quick and easy way to enter locate requests online thereby avoiding any hold time on the phone that may occur with calling in locate requests. E-locates are for professional excavators or contractors and allows for multiple locations to be entered at the same time. Simply register under the contractor section of our homepage. Once registered your information is stored and entering locate requests becomes a matter of entering the addresses of the locate requests.

Homeowners may simply dial 811 to submit a locate request.

Important Notices (from Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Title 16, Part 1, Chapter 18):

1. Locate requests are good for 14 working days from origination when working around gas lines.
2. If a gas line is cut, you must report it to the one-call center immediately and to the Railroad Commission within 10 days, or you may be subject to fines.
